Workout accountability

A training partner in your texts: checks in before, follows up after, and keeps the streak honest.

The gym buddy who actually shows up every time. Tell pally your training plan and it checks in on workout days, asks how it went, keeps your streak, and doesn't quietly let a skipped week slide.

The routine

How it works

Tell pally your plan and how firm you want it to be: which days you train, what kind of sessions, and whether you want a gentle check-in or a partner that pushes back when you waver. You can also tell it what to say when you try to skip — your own words, used against you, kindly.

On training days, pally checks in at the time you chose, with the day's session and your current streak. After the workout window, it follows up and logs what actually happened from your reply: what you trained, how it felt, or that today just didn't happen.

The streak is kept honestly. A missed session resets it, a rest day doesn't, and a sick week is a pause, not a failure — you set the rules and pally applies your judgment consistently, which is exactly what future-you at 5:30pm can't be trusted to do.

Ask for the bigger picture whenever you want it: how many sessions this month, what you've been skipping, whether Thursday workouts ever actually happen. Adjust the plan in the same thread as your schedule changes, and the accountability follows the new plan, not the old one.

A useful fit

Good for

  • Making a workouts-per-week goal survive a busy month
  • A pre-gym nudge at the hour you actually decide
  • Logging sessions by replying instead of opening an app
  • Keeping a streak that treats rest days fairly
  • Seeing which planned workout you always skip

Text it naturally

Things to try

keep me accountable to lifting monday, wednesday, and friday
check in at 5:30 and don't accept my excuses easily
i'm sick this week, pause the streak
how many sessions did i actually do this month?

Common questions

How is this different from the friendly nag?+

The nag pushes one task to a finish line and stops. This is a standing training partner: it knows your weekly plan, checks in before sessions, follows up after, and keeps a streak and history across weeks — there's no single done.

How hard will pally push when I want to skip?+

As hard as you asked it to. Some people want a single reminder and no guilt; others want their own past excuses quoted back at them. You set the tone up front and can change it any time the approach stops working.

What counts as keeping the streak?+

Your rules. You define the weekly target, what a completed session means, and what pauses it — illness, travel, a deload week. Pally applies those rules consistently and tells you plainly where the streak stands.
