Can Siri send WhatsApp messages? What works and the alternatives

   Enable WhatsApp for Siri

   Open iPhone Settings, choose Siri or Apple Intelligence & Siri, open Apps, and select WhatsApp. Turn on Use with Siri Requests. Make sure Siri itself is enabled and WhatsApp has the contact access you intend to use. Menu wording can vary slightly by iOS version. This permission lets Siri hand the request to WhatsApp; it does not give Siri a general view of every conversation. Test with your own number or a trusted contact before using it for an important message.

   Name the app and contact

   Use a complete command: send a WhatsApp message to the contact, followed by the exact text. Saying WhatsApp prevents Siri from choosing Apple's Messages app. If two contacts share a name or one person has several phone numbers, Siri may ask which record you mean. Clean up duplicate contact cards and add a recognizable relationship or last name. For a group, use the group's exact title and listen carefully when Siri repeats the destination.

   Review before sending

   Siri normally repeats the message and asks for confirmation, which is useful when names or dictation are uncertain. Apple also offers an Automatically Send Messages setting under Messaging with Siri for people who prefer to skip that confirmation. Leave confirmation on when messages affect work, travel, money, or a sensitive relationship. If you enable automatic sending, speak the recipient and message slowly and check WhatsApp afterward. Voice transcription can change names, punctuation, dates, and amounts without sounding obviously wrong.

   Fix common failures

   If Siri opens WhatsApp without sending, return to the Siri app settings and confirm WhatsApp access. Check Siri's language, the contact's WhatsApp number, your network connection, and WhatsApp's own permissions. Open WhatsApp and send the person a manual message to confirm the account works. WhatsApp notes that opening the app clears its unread badge, so Siri may then report no unread messages to read aloud. Restart the phone after an iOS or WhatsApp update if the integration suddenly stops responding.

   Choose an alternative for repeat work

   Use Siri for a single message or call that you can state in one breath. Use Shortcuts when you want a repeatable trigger and are willing to maintain the automation. Use an assistant inside WhatsApp when you mainly want answers in that app. For catch-ups, scheduled recaps, reply tracking, or drafts based on several connected accounts, choose a product that explicitly supports those jobs and shows outgoing text for approval. No voice command should silently inherit broad permission to speak for you.
