Pally vs Instinct

Two assistants in your texts, with different access, pricing, and data terms.

Instinct is a personal AI assistant from San Francisco-based Spear Street Technology. You reach it through iMessage, WhatsApp, or a phone call. It connects email, messages, calendar, and devices, then handles work such as booking, buying, canceling, corresponding, finding flights, cleaning up an inbox, and arranging rides. A persistent cloud computer keeps it available and signed in to connected services.

Pally covers much of the same ground from native texts on iPhone and Android. It connects the accounts you choose, watches email and WhatsApp, handles calendar work, and completes web bookings and purchases after you approve them. Pally Max adds calls on your behalf. The clear dividing points are access, published pricing, and how each company describes training, credentials, disconnection, and deletion.

Status: Instinct is an invite-only beta, available through a waitlist or member invitation and free while the company scales compute.

Credit where it is due

Where Instinct shines.

Broad action-taking

Instinct covers a wide set of practical jobs: bookings, purchases, cancellations, correspondence, flights, inbox cleanup, rides, and calls. That range puts it among the closest products to Pally in day-to-day capability.

Text and voice access

iMessage, WhatsApp, and phone calls give Instinct three familiar ways to handle a request. You can keep the conversation in the channel that suits the moment.

A persistent cloud computer

Instinct runs on a cloud computer and stays signed in to connected services with stored credentials. That setup lets it carry out work across accounts without depending on a device in front of you.

Free during beta

Invited members can use Instinct without paying while the company scales its compute. The beta gives those members access to the full breadth of the assistant before pricing is published.

Different by design

Where Pally is different.

Training terms

Instinct's terms say: "You agree that we may use Materials to develop, provide, maintain and improve the Services and our other products and services, including training AI models, and for any purpose specified in our Privacy Notice, subject to your opt-out rights and Vault materials as outlined below." Pally configures its AI providers so user content is not used to train AI models.

What happens after disconnecting

Instinct's terms say the company "may still use the indexed" data after a connected service is disconnected, with deletion available by request at app.instinct.co/workspace. TechCrunch reported on August 24, 2026 that testers still saw inbox content summarized after disconnecting Google, and that an initial deletion request was not honored before Instinct added a delete-external-data control. Pally's privacy policy describes data download and verified account-data deletion, with connection-specific rules for disconnection.

Invite-only beta versus open plans

Instinct requires a waitlist invitation or an invitation from a member. It is free during beta and has no published price. Anyone can start Pally on its permanent Free plan; Pro is $25 a month, and Max is $100 a month.

How accounts stay connected

Instinct signs in to services with credentials stored on its persistent cloud computer. With Pally's secure browser connections, you sign in yourself and Pally never sees, requests, types, or stores your passwords or one-time codes. Pally's browsing providers may store encrypted session credentials until you disconnect or delete the connection.

Pricing

Compare the plan, not just the price.
