Split the bill

Dinner's on you, the math is on pally, logged to Splitwise before the table's cleared.

Connect Splitwise and settling up becomes one text: who was there, what you paid, done. Pally handles the arithmetic, the entries, and the memory of who still owes what.

The routine

How it works

Text pally who shared the bill, who paid, and the total you want divided. You can use first names and plain descriptions like last night's dinner; if the group or payer is not clear enough to make a correct Splitwise entry, pally can ask before logging it.

Pally handles the equal split and states the result back in the conversation, including what each person owes. That quick confirmation makes the arithmetic visible instead of hiding it behind a completed entry, so you can catch a missing person or an incomplete total immediately.

Real bills change after the first pass. Add a cash tip, remove someone who only stopped by, or explain that one person should not share a particular part. Pally updates the Splitwise entry and reports the revised outcome without making you calculate every share again.

Later, ask pally what was recorded or who still owes what and keep the follow-up connected to the original expense. Splitwise remains the record of the shared bill; the text thread becomes the easy place to create and adjust that record while everyone is still remembering the same evening.

A useful fit

Good for

  • Equal dinner splits before everyone leaves
  • Adding a forgotten cash tip after the first entry
  • Correcting the guest list without redoing the arithmetic
  • Recording which person covered the shared expense
  • Checking a Splitwise balance from the conversation

Text it naturally

Things to try

Common questions

What information does pally need for a split?+

Include the people involved, who paid, and the total to divide. If the matching Splitwise people or the intended group are unclear, pally can ask you to identify them before it records the expense.

Can I change the bill after it is logged?+

Yes. Tell pally about the tip, a missing person, or another correction and it can update the Splitwise entry. It reports the revised shares so you can see the effect of the change.

Does every bill have to be split equally?+

The recipe's basic flow handles equal arithmetic from the total and guest list. If the situation is uneven, explain the specific adjustment rather than leaving pally to assume how different items should be allocated.
