Pally vs Alexa+
The assistant in your living room, and the one in your pocket's message thread.
Alexa+ is the biggest swing at a mainstream AI assistant yet: Amazon rebuilt Alexa around generative AI and, since February 2026, made it available to everyone in the U.S., free with Prime. It's far more than a voice for timers now. Alexa+ completes tasks start to finish: it books restaurants through partners like OpenTable, organizes your calendar, orders gifts, plans trips with Tripadvisor, and shops, and it's proactive in the home, dimming the lights or nudging the thermostat when you mention being cold. If there's an Echo in your kitchen and Prime on your account, you already own a genuinely capable assistant.
Pally lives somewhere else entirely: the message thread in your pocket. It watches the accounts you connect, your email, your own WhatsApp, your calendar, texts you when something needs you, and handles errands with your approval, from web bookings and purchases to real phone calls on Max. The overlap in verbs is real, both can book a table and buy a gift, but the shape is different: Alexa+ is a voice in your home connected to Amazon's world; Pally is a contact in your texts connected to your inboxes and the open web.
Status: Alexa+ reached general availability in the U.S. in February 2026, free with Prime, and is rolling out internationally.
The short version
So, Alexa+ or Pally?

The case for Alexa+
Get Alexa+ if you have Prime and an Echo, which is to say: just turn it on. It's free, it's genuinely capable, and for the home, voice-first jobs, music, timers, smart home, a reservation while your hands are in the sink, it's the natural pick.
Visit Alexa+The case for Pally
Get Pally for everything that happens away from the speaker: the inboxes that need watching, the reply that needs drafting, the errand that needs finishing on the open web, the call on Max. They don't really compete for the same moments, and a lot of households will sensibly run both.

Credit where it is due
Where Alexa+ shines.
Effectively free for Prime households
If you have Prime, Alexa+ costs nothing extra, and it runs on hardware many homes already own. That's a price no dedicated assistant can argue with.
Real agentic actions, shipped at scale
Restaurant reservations through OpenTable, gift ordering, trip planning with Tripadvisor, shopping, calendar organization. Alexa+ finishes tasks, not just answers, and it does so for millions of households.
The home is its home turf
Proactive smart-home intelligence is where Alexa+ shines: lights, temperature, music, Fire TV, and the hands-free kitchen questions no phone product handles as gracefully.
Amazon's reach
Live across the U.S. and rolling out internationally, with the Echo and Fire TV install base behind it. Alexa+ will be the first agentic assistant most families ever meet.
Different by design
Where Pally is different.
The room you're in versus the phone in your pocket
Alexa+ is strongest within earshot of an Echo. Pally is wherever your texts are: the commute, the office, the queue at the pharmacy. A message thread follows you; a smart speaker doesn't.
Amazon's world versus your accounts
Alexa+ orbits Amazon services, partners, and your smart home. Pally connects to your life's accounts, Gmail or Outlook, your calendar, your own WhatsApp, Slack, your bank, and watches them for what needs you.
The same errand, finished differently
Both can book a table or buy a gift. Alexa+ works through its partner integrations and the Amazon store. Pally works the open web, shows you exactly what it's about to do in your texts, and on Max phones the restaurant that never set up online booking.
It won't text you first
Alexa+ is proactive in the home, but your day's loose ends live in your messages. Pally starts your morning with a brief, flags the email that matters, and follows up on the thing you promised, all in the thread you check anyway.

Questions
Pally vs Alexa+ FAQ.
Is Alexa+ really free?+
With Prime, yes: it's included. Without Prime it's $19.99 a month in the U.S., and Amazon offers a limited free chat experience through the Alexa app and Alexa.com.
Can Alexa+ text me like Pally does?+
No. Alexa+ lives on Echo devices, Fire TV, its app, and the web. There's no Alexa contact in your messages, and it doesn't watch your texts, WhatsApp, or email. Pally's whole interface is your texts.
They both book restaurants and shop. What's actually different?+
The surface and the reach. Alexa+ acts through Amazon and its partner integrations, by voice. Pally acts on the open web and your connected accounts, shows you every action for approval in your texts, and on Max can phone a business directly.
